What Is a Schulte Grid?

A Schulte grid is a 5x5 table of randomly placed numbers from 1 to 25. Your task is to find and click each number in order — 1, 2, 3, ... 25 — as fast as possible without moving your eyes from the center. It's a classic attention and peripheral-vision exercise used by pilots, athletes and FPS players to train the ability to take in the whole visual field at once.

How to Improve Your Schulte Time

Keep Your Eyes Centered

The whole point is peripheral vision. Fix your gaze on the center of the grid and let your peripheral vision find the next number. Resist the urge to dart your eyes around.

Don't Rush the Click

Errors cost more than slow clicks. Find the number with your eyes first, then move your mouse deliberately. Accuracy compounds into speed.

Daily Short Reps

3-5 grids daily beats one long session. Your visual system adapts to frequency.

How Does Focus Relate to Aim?

Aim isn't just hand-eye coordination — it's visual processing speed. The faster you register an enemy on your screen (even in your peripheral vision), the faster you can react. Schulte training widens your useful field of view so you spot flankers, off-angle peeks and crosshair-placement errors sooner. Pair it with Aimball for the full package.

How Long Should You Train the Grid?

3-5 grids (about 3-5 minutes) before a session is ideal as a focus warm-up. Sub-30 second completion is elite; 45-60 seconds is solid. Track your time weekly rather than daily — focus fluctuates like reaction time.
