It blends three cross-checkable signals: platform round-play volume (Blitz.gg Sep-2026 snapshot), a 900+ pro skin/weapon survey (WeCoach), and editorial tier lists (cs2.eu/CS2Lore). Only weapons with absolute data (AK/M4/AWP) are labeled "platform data"; the rest use relative heat bands — we do not fabricate precise percentages.

Why is the AK-47 always first?

It one-taps full armor at any range for $2,700 with no real substitute: roughly 89k rounds of platform lead and the same story in pro play. Its only flaw — recoil — is erased by CS2’s spray-control culture.

Why is the AWP S-tier with only a $100 kill reward?

Its value is map control in one shot, not the reward: every AWP pick buys information and numbers. CT systems in the pro game are literally built around the AWP, so both its system weight and popularity stay top-tier.

What is the difference between Tier and Popularity?

Tier is our editorial strength × economy × system-weight grade; popularity is the relative usage band. They can diverge — the Deagle is Tier A but only "high" popularity, since nobody buys it every round.

Should beginners just buy top-down?

Accepted Answer

Treat it as a priority map: drill the AK/M4 and AWP fundamentals first, then find your main among B-tier staples (many players are P90/MP9 mains). Every weapon page has per-range damage and exact TTK.

Verifiable per-weapon win rates require demo-level aggregation (tokened STRATZ API); no public no-login source provides them today. We publish cross-checked relative ranks with sources and dates instead of unsourced percentages.

Why are shotguns and the knife at the bottom?

They are context-narrow, not weak: shotguns rule 8–14m and nowhere else; the knife is a rotation tool. Their popularity is capped by design.
